Guest WiFi — Privacy Notice

This notice explains what happens to your information when you connect to a guest wifi network powered by Woodpecker Networks. It applies wherever you see this network's connect page, at any participating venue.

What we collect

• The name and email address you enter on the connect page.
• Your device's MAC address and the IP address assigned to it for that session.
• The time you connected (and, where recorded, when your session ended).

Why we collect it

• To provide the wifi service — identifying who is using the network is a normal, necessary part of operating it safely.
• Legal/security retention — venues offering public internet access are expected to be able to identify who used a connection at a given time, in case of a lawful request from the police or another authority. This connection record is kept separately from the marketing information below, for a limited period, and is not used for any other purpose.
• Marketing, only if you opt in — if you tick the optional box on the connect page, the venue may email you offers or updates. If you don't tick it, your details are never used for marketing.

Connecting to the wifi is never conditional on agreeing to marketing — you can leave that box unticked and still get online.

How long we keep it

Marketing/analytics information (your name, email, and marketing preference) is kept until you ask for it to be deleted or the venue stops using this service. Connection records kept for legal/security purposes are retained for a limited period set by the venue's policy, and are not shared or used beyond that purpose.

Your rights

You can ask the venue where you connected to tell you what information they hold about you, correct it, or delete it.
